Remora Recorder

Quietly records every meeting.

Remora Recorder starts the moment your Teams meeting starts, mixes your voice with everyone else's into one file, and stops the instant the meeting ends. Everything stays on your PC.

The idea

A meeting is only recorded if you remember to record it. So we removed the remembering.

Remora Recorder watches for a Teams meeting the way a remora rides a larger fish — quietly, staying close, never getting in the way. Three things follow from that.

Never forgotten

Automatic on Pro — detects your Teams meeting and starts recording on its own, no button to remember. Free starts with one click instead.

Never lost

Writes to two files at once, so a crash or power cut costs you seconds, not the meeting.

Never leaves your PC

No cloud, no account, no upload. Recording stays exactly where it was made.

What happens during a meeting

Remora Recorder detects the Teams meeting, mixes both sides of the conversation into one file, and keeps a second safety copy running in case anything goes wrong.

Idle Detected Recording Protected Saved

Remora Recorder sits quietly in the tray, watching for a Teams meeting to begin.

Three steps

Set it up once. Forget about it.

01

Run it

Launch RemoraRecorder.exe. No installer, no extra runtime — just the one file.

02

Let it live in the tray

Close the window and it keeps running quietly in the background, ready whenever your meeting starts.

03

Join your meeting

Recording starts when your meeting does and stops when it ends — automatic on Pro, one click on Free.

What you get

Everything a meeting recording needs, nothing it doesn't.

Devices
Microphone System default -57.8 dBFS
System audio System default -5.4 dBFS

The actual Remora Recorder interface

Works with headphones, not just speakers

Remora Recorder taps your PC's system audio directly, so it captures the other side of the call whether you're on headphones or speakers — no second device needed to catch what they're saying. Mixed into one file with your microphone, or kept as two separate tracks if you'd rather split speakers later.

The shared screen, too

Turn on screen recording and the Teams window is saved as an .mp4 with audio, whether or not it's covered by other windows.

Crash-proof by design

A standard file and a fragmented backup are written at the same time. Losses from a crash or power cut are measured in seconds.

Stops in an instant

No waiting for the app to process a two-hour recording. Stopping takes well under a second, every time.

Follows your devices

Unplug a headset mid-call and Remora Recorder switches to the new device without dropping a frame.

Windows APIs only

Built on WASAPI, Media Foundation and Windows.Graphics.Capture. No third-party drivers, no virtual devices, no open-source licence baggage.

Built to be trusted

Private by design, not by promise.

Everything stays local

Recordings are written to your PC and nowhere else. There is no function that sends audio or video off the machine.

No account, no telemetry

Nothing to sign in to, nothing phoning home. The app does not know who you are.

Visible, not hidden

Windows shows its own microphone-in-use indicator while recording. Remora Recorder does not suppress or spoof it, and Teams shows no recording notice of its own.

Built only on standard APIs

WASAPI, Media Foundation and Windows.Graphics.Capture — no borrowed open-source code, no licence entanglements.

Not another cloud recorder

The difference is where the recording lives.
